Itinerary: Most days we meet in Ventura at the harbor at 7:15 - 8:15 in the morning for check-in, and the boat pulls away from the dock at 8:00 - 9:00. Check your Service Agreement for actual departure times. It takes about an hour to cross the channel unless we see dolphins or whales, in which case they’ll take a little time to follow along and talk about them.
When you get to the island it takes an hour or so to get over to the kayaks and get fitted for gear, and to get the basic kayaking lesson and safety talk. Then you go on the water with the guides along the cliffs in one direction, exploring the sea caves as you go. At some point you turn around and come back past the landing area and explore in the other direction.
You return to the beach around 1:30, and have until about 3:00 - 4:00 (your ferry captain will tell you your pick-up time) to eat the lunch that you bring (we’re not permitted by the Park to supply food), and you can go walking up the canyon or along the cliff-tops, or maybe get in a little snorkeling.
Then the day-people get on the ferry and head home, and the Multi-Day people go and set up camp.
All Prices Include: single or tandem kayaks and kayaking gear at the island, a basic kayaking lesson and safety talk including dealing with sea caves and island paddling conditions, and naturalist guides to accompany, advise, inform, and assist you on the water. All prices are PER-PERSON, not per-kayak.
Scheduling: From April through November trips are scheduled for every weekend, and most weekdays. From December through March trips are scheduled upon demand. Trip scheduling opportunities are added and changed too frequently to be kept current on the website. Scheduling limitations may include: the availability of ferry spaces, kayaks, guides, and other logistics, so book your trip absolutely as soon as you determine your desired dates.
